16 Weeks Gone... What do I do now?

Well if you have read my last post you know I had been sick. By the time all was said and done I had lost 12 full weeks of training. After that much time off with no training you must start off very easy and work your way back into training. This means I got even further behind. I am now back to full speed (I hope) but a total of 16 weeks behind schedule.

With 16 weeks out of a 30 week training cycle gone (and taking into account my starting condition), I have no real choice but to drop my hopes of finishing IRONMAN USA 2008. With the money already spent for registration, I am still hoping on starting my IRONMAN. My only goal will be to experience the event with no pressure. My plan is to go until it is no longer enjoyable, no worrying about time or speed. I will keep moving as long as I am enjoying myself (and have the officials haven't take me off the course).

This is not the end of my My IRONMAN Year though. My IRONMAN Year is going to now take 2 years (or more) to complete.

Until next time,

Update:

It has been a long time since my last post and for that I am sorry. So here is an update

Holidays:
The holidays went as planed. I was busy and preoccupied with the normal events of the holiday season and training took a backseat, yet I was able to spend some time training… More than I had hoped, which was nice.

January:
The first 2 weeks of January was very productive. The first part of the month went great I got on my trainer as needed and ran as needed. I actually really started to enjoy my training. But the last week or so of January I started to catch a cold and backed off my training hoping that I would feel better the next week.

February so far:
Well the cold caught up to me anyway and I finally went to the doctor, after being sick for over 2 weeks. And guess what the doctor said “You have pneumonia! You should have come in sooner.” This is a great set back, 4 more weeks of training gone… I can’t start training again until next week which will be the 21 week mark exactly.

Weight: 285lbs

Pictures from my "Hungarian Work-Out" days!

Here are some the great things I saw while training for my IRONMAN (while I was on vacation in Hungary).

The locations stretch from Lake Balaton (The Hungarian Sea) to Miskolc.

What happens with my training if I go on vacation?

Well since being here in wonderful Hungary, I have been able to get many easy workouts in. I think I am better off being here on vacation for my first few workouts (after my crash and pneumonia) than at home. I am not rushed for time, I am not pushing myself to keep up with my normal group and I can get plenty of rest between workouts. I will try to get some pictures up soon. I am riding on my own and it is a little exciting. It seems I am always discovering something new around each turn.

Cleared for Travel and Work-Outs!

Well yesterday saw the 10 day mark of my recovery period, which means I can start back on my training.

However, my wife and I are getting ready to go visit her family...In Hungary (yep I married an Alien!). We are leaving for the trip tomorrow, so I spent last night packing and I will most likely spend tonight making sure the wife knows all the bases are covered and we are ready for our trip, which means the workout will have to wait until I land in Hungary. I hope to get a lot of time for my very easy work outs. It will be nice to have new stamping grounds for a couple of weeks. My brother in-law has offered to let me use his mountain bike for the duration of our stay. I will try to get some nice pictures of my solo rides and training grounds.

I will try to keep you update now that things are moving again!
